Install Lightroom presets in Lightroom Classic versions 7.3-9.0
Follow
STEP 1A: USE OUR AUTOMATED PRESET INSTALLER
Using our Lightroom preset installer is the easiest way to complete your installation, with no further steps needed.
The auto-installer is a quick click-to-run program. You will not import the auto-installer as a preset file, and the auto-installer will NOT create a .zip file. You simply run the .dmg (Mac) or .exe (Windows) installer the same way you would any other software installer, and restart your software. Running into issues with the auto-installer? If this doesn't work for you, or if you have purchased a collection that doesn't offer an auto-installer, simply proceed to STEP 1B for manual installation.
STEP 1B: INSTALL YOUR PRESETS MANUALLY VIA THE ADOBE CAMERA RAW > SETTINGS FOLDER
Open the Camera Raw > Settings Folder on your computer via the following file pathway:
- Mac Users: Users>YOUR NAME>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw> Settings
On Mac, you may need to press ⌘ + G or shift + ⌘ + G and paste the above path into the Go To sheet, as the User Library folder may not be visible.
- Windows Users: C:>Users-[your user name]>AppData>Roaming>Adobe>Camera Raw>Settings
Once Step 1b is complete, go to step 2. If you have trouble finding the Settings Folder, go to Step 1c.
STEP 1C: INSTALL YOUR PRESETS MANUALLY. AN ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF FINDING THE ADOBE CAMERA RAW > SETTINGS FOLDER
- Windows Users: Open Lightroom Classic CC > Go to the Edit dropdown > click on Preferences.
- MAC Users: Open Lightroom Classic CC > Go to the Lightroom dropdown > click on Preferences.
Then, click on the Presets tab > click on Show Lightroom Develop Presets
If the "Settings" folder isn't automatically highlighted, you will select the Camera Raw folder (not the Lightroom folder). The Settings folder will be inside of the Camera Raw folder. The Settings folder is where you will place your .xmp (not .lrt) preset files in the next step
Once Step 1c is complete, go to step 2.
STEP 2: PLACE YOUR PRESETS IN THE CAMERA RAW > SETTINGS FOLDER
Find the folder containing your .xmp formatted downloads. Take care to only select the preset collection folder and not the brush collection folder – your download will include both.
Add your selected .xmp formatted collection folder to the Camera Raw > Settings folder by using the copy and paste function or drop and drag function on your computer.
Proceed to Step 3.
STEP 3: CLOSE AND RE-OPEN LIGHTROOM
When you re-open Lightroom, your presets will be installed.
STEP 4: START USING YOUR PRESETS
To access your presets, go to the Develop module and you will see them in the left-hand menu. Click on the name of any preset to apply it to your photo. Please note that you must have a photo loaded in Lightroom in order to see your list of presets.
