Automatic Installation Troubleshooting
FollowWhat Does this Article Cover?
This article will walk users through how to download and use Luxe automatic installers for use with Lightroom Classic and/or Photoshop ACR. It will then address common issues.
Compatible Versions of Software for the Luxe Automatic Installers:
The auto-installers are click-to-run programs, and are designed to automatically place your files into the correct location within Lightroom Classic (versions 5.0 and later, Classic CC, and CC 2015) and/or Photoshop ACR (Photoshop CS6 and later + free ACR plugin) software. The installer will not work with Lightroom, Lightroom CC, Lightroom Mobile, or Photoshop software without the free ACR plug-in.
How to Run the Luxe Automatic Installers
First, select the auto-installer from your download link (Note: most, but not all, brands offer automatic installation) :
Next, select the installer that matches your computer - PC/Windows or Mac/OS
Once you've selected the appropriate installer, the installer will download to your computer. It will likely be found in your downloads folder or your recent files folder - sorted by date. It will most often appear as a Luxe "Logo" image. Simply click or double-click to run.
When you open the downloaded file, you'll see a pop-up box that asks: do you want this installer to make changes to your computer. Select YES to run the installer.
Once the installer is done running, the Close button will show as clickable. Click the close button to close the installer.
Once the installer has been run and you've clicked the close button, simply restart your software, and check for your presets under your presets tab in Lightroom Classic and/or Photoshop ACR.
Common Installation Errors
Incompatible Software - Confusion between Lightroom Classic and the cloud-based Lightroom is the most common issue leading to installation issues with the auto-installer. The auto-installer is not designed to place files into the cloud-based Lightroom, formerly "Lightroom CC". If you believe this might be the case, we suggest checking your version info and/or installing manually.
Presets aren't showing up in Compatible Software - This is commonly due to the "Store Presets with the Catalog" box being checked under Preferences > Presets > Location in Lightroom:
If you find this box checked, simply un-check, close Lightroom, run the auto-installer once more, and re-launch Lightroom.
"No Mountable File Systems" Error. This error can happen with certain older versions of Lightroom software or OS on a Mac computer. There is no known fix. This typically means that you will simply need to install manually instead.
Webroot Virus Error. It appears that there has been a long history of Webroot (a third-party software that you have installed on your computer) quarantining files with false positives for a "W32.Trojan.Gen virus" when they are not actually infected. This was a common issue with Webroot from 2017 on, due to certain updates to their software that they have yet to fully resolve, as documented extensively across their online forums. When this happens, you must install manually.
