Adding Overlays to your Adobe Creative Cloud Libraries
FollowHave you ever been working in Photoshop on your desktop or iPad and wished you had quick access to your Photo Overlays? With the Adobe Creative Cloud Libraries you can! This is especially great for iPad users who don't wish to overload their device storage with image files.
There are two ways to access and add to the Creative Cloud Libraries for easy access in Photoshop or on-the-go! (Note: This does count toward your total cc storage space). The first method is to add resources from the "Libraries" menu in Photoshop. The second method involves organizing within the Creative Cloud Desktop App under "Files" > "Your Libraries" (which you can also access via your web browser by logging into your Adobe account).
Building Libraries in Photoshop
Launch Photoshop, and open any image you'd like to work on. Look for the Libraries tab in your workspace. If you don't see Libraries as a tab (like so) in your Photoshop Workspace:
You can open the window via "Window" > "Libraries:
In the Libraries window, you will want to create and name a Group. You can do this by clicking the little folder icon on the bottom.
With your Group created and named appropriately - either as a catch-all like "Luxe Overlays" to store all of your Luxe Overlays, or with individual groups for each like "Luxe Film Effects Overlays", or even something descriptive for your most used options "Favorite Luxe Overlays" - you can simply drag and drop unzipped JPG and PNG overlay files directly into your new group(s):
Once in this space, you will see them all as thumbnails and be able to quickly drag and drop the overlays of your choice directly onto your images as Smart Objects:
From there simply place, resize, and mask away to your heart's content!:
Building Libraries in Creative Cloud
The Creative Cloud app can sometimes be more user friendly way of sorting your resources into your Creative Cloud Libraries than doing all your organizing in the Photoshop workspace.
Launch the Creative Cloud Desktop app, navigate to Files > Your Libraries and select "+ New Library" and create a new library with a descriptive name like "Luxe Overlays":
You can organize this library into groups via "Add Group" or simply drop all (or just your favorite) overlays in!
Once you have established an organizational system you like, you can select any graphic resources saved on your computer, such as your JPG & PNG Luxe Overlays, and add them to your Adobe Creative Cloud library via "Upload a file" for quick cross-platform use:
We recommend organizing these into well-labeled intuitive folders via "Add Group" in your new "Luxe Overlays" library if you have a wealth of resources or one of our overlay bundles. We think descriptive names like "Luxe Falling Petals Overlays" or "My Favorites" is the best way to practically sort your resources and save you from scrolling through endless thumbnails looking for specific resources.
Once you've added all your overlays to your creative cloud library system, these files can be located in Photoshop for desktop under Window > Libraries or on Photoshop for iPad via the Image icon in your toolbar > Libraries:
